  1. I guess you mean high cholesterol, because we all have some level of it. Fiber will help. Fiber helps everything! Look for whole grain products rather than things made with refined white flour. Even white bread is available in whole grain now. Eat lots of veggies...no butter or anything. Choose low fat, lean meat...chicken, chicken, chicken, but also certain cuts of beef and pork...ask the butcher. Fishies are your friends. Try tilapia if you don't like fish. It isn't fishy at all. Oat Bran. Cheerios for breakfast with berries will help. Or oatmeal, but I hate oatmeal. Beans. Use beans in whole wheat pasta instead of ground beef. Low fat, high fiber...good for what ails you. Make veggie soup using low sodium broth and beans, with tons of veggies. Rinse the beans before adding to get the excess salt off. You can also take time released Niacin, but watch out for the evil flush. By that I mean, some people get a very uncomfortable flushed feeling...hot tingly face, profuse sweating...really very unpleasant. The time release is supposed to limit that, but doesn't always work.
  2. Garlic & fish & psyllium husks will lower lower bad cholesterol and raise good cholesterol. You can take a couple of supplements that lower cholesterol like red yeast rice & policosanol. They really work.
  3. The high cholesterol level could befrom the thyroid problem. Once I got on Armour thyroid and got the free t4 midrange and the free t3 high in range, my cholesterol dropped over 40 points. I dropped it even furth by adding walnuts to my ceral every day, raw organic apple cider vinegar before dinner, and using olive oil when possible. Supplements like essential fatty acids (fish oil) will help too.
  4. Cinnamon will help lower both your blood suger and your LDL cholesterol. Check out this site: http://www.rxreview.info/columns/1.html
  5. Your doctor should have prescribed a statin for you if your cholesterol is high enough to be a concern. Two 1000mg of fish oil caps a day is good to lower. Eat oatmeal, whole grains, also walking is good too. Check with your doctor about your levels.
